Tears of Tess

by Pepper Winters

A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.

"My life was complete.

Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.

Then it all changed.

I was sold."

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility. For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror. Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

Q Mercer

Review by Brittany

The first installment in the Monsters in the Dark series by Pepper Winters was fantastic! I have quickly fallen in love with this author. She writes about things that are normally taboo and she writes about it well.
Tess Snow lives a wonderful life. She has a fantastic boyfriend and a place at a great school. The only thing she feels is missing is a spark in the bedroom with her boyfriend, Brax. She wants to be dominated, but he’s the exact opposite of that. He wants to treat her like she’s a delicate flower.
Brax decides to surprise Tess with a trip to Mexico. Everything is wonderful until a trip to a café turns horribly wrong.
Tess is sold into the sex trade. Her worst nightmare is coming to life. She winds up in the home of Q Mercer, a man that could potentially kill her.
Q Mercer runs a billion dollar empire in Paris. He’s strong, dominant, and oh so sexy. He doesn’t trust easily and has a hard time opening up to others. He likes dominating women and often accepts women as bribes.
This is a novel full of sex, rape, violence, and love, the last thing you’d expect to come from all this. You will instantly be entranced with these characters. Emotions will run high, and not just the characters’. Twists and turns fill this book, you will be screaming at your ereader. I cannot express my feelings towards this book. I was pulled in from the beginning.
Pepper Winters blew me away with this novel. I absolutely could not put it down. This story is very, very dark. Full of horror, eroticism, and gory details. I only recommend this is you can handle such things. As always, it is written for the audiences of the age 18 or older.
Pepper writes about this almost as if she’s lived it. She provides such detail, such emotion that it is hard not to feel for these characters. Pepper Winters continues the Monsters in the Dark series with Quintessentially Q, set to be published on December 15, 2013.
